Utilizing Demand Management Policies to Promote Economic Growth in the UK - Essay Example Monetary development can be characterized as a proportion of an ascent in the Growth Domestic Product (GDP). It is consequently that we decide if a nation is experiencing expansion or development and the average cost for basic items of a specific nation. To all the more likely comprehend the definition, the term GDP ought to be clarified. The last gives a whole of the creation of a given nation for the year being referred to. The all out whole originates from including the administration, business and citizen’s use and deducting it from all fares of the nation (McCombie and Anthony 43). This will give a general thought of how the market is performing against other global exchanging markets. The current financial level as clarified before can be credited to various components. One of them is that the legislature has been against the approach of claiming property by the general population and has likewise declined the extension of government assistance programs for people in gen eral. By and by, the nation has an advantageous help industry with legitimate and present day offices set up. These offices can be followed to the financial area, protection and different business substances that have soar the monetary development. Unexpectedly, businesses are not in the spotlight any longer. With respect to the figure financial development, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has a lot to state about the eventual fate of the United Kingdom. They report that the world is experiencing a recuperation stage, however certain elements will restrain this movement. It could have a positive or an eased back effect on the country’s monetary possibility. When there is less spending by the legislature, the pace of GDP goes under since it

Do Less Blacks Than Their Fell Essay Example For Students

Do Less Blacks Than Their Fell Essay Do less blacks than their individual white Americans utilize the web? As indicated by the Pew Study on Internet Usage , the appropriate response is truly, yet this investigation rushes to call attention to that its not just shading, its a blend of things. Be that as it may, as indicated by Leonce Gaiter , creator of Is the Web unreasonably Cool for Blacks, the web mocksour principal convictions, our center wants. (p 643) Gaiter straight expresses that most of white Americans have a numbness for dark culture. He doesn't set aside the effort to address the other real reasons representing the dark lack, however keeps on shaking on about partiality and bigotry, not in any event, halting to archive appropriate sources. Have ethics and qualities changed in America and deserted blacks? As indicated by Gaiter, the web cannot assist us with accomplishing our 50s and 60s beliefs (p 643). Blacks despite everything need the conventional American Dream. All things considered, what is the conventional American Dream? Maybe, the fantasy is to have a great vehicle and house, and a great job. In any case, as opposed to Gaiter, I accept that these are very similar things we need today. Nothing has changed aside from the way that business visionaries have risen with the development of the Web. Individuals are discovering approaches to bring in cash from roads they never longed for. The American Dream as we probably am aware it has not evaporated or been deserted, it has basically been changed to incorporate family time and individual objectives. Despite the fact that prejudice has diminished in the public eye today, it despite everything is a danger to getting individuals on the Web. These days, blacks are by all account not the only one being oppressed its all minorities. In considers led, of the online network, just 23% are non-white. Along these lines, non-whites are awkward with the way that they may talk with the individuals who under typical conditions would show bias against them. President Clinton expressed that his objective was to have a PC in each home before the finish of his term. Be that as it may, what number of individuals will need to get to the web on the off chance that it is viewed as white? Gaiter expressed that the web is viewed as white and consequently individuals remain away to maintain a strategic distance from inconvenience, regardless of whether they are offered the chance. The main issue that Leonce Gaiter didn't completely address is financial aspects. With the measure of individuals on government help developing regular, financial matters acts like a major issue. Studies have demonstrated that of most of the individuals who don't utilize the web at any rate 35% were at a monetary inconvenience. In what manner can this issue of financial aspects be tackled? One of the key answers will be to bring down the cost of PCs and to make Web get to modest and open, with the goal that everybody will have the chance to progress mechanically. In the event that this issue is dealt with, more blacks and different minorities will exploit the web. Everybody merits the change to perceive what the web brings to the table. At the point when individuals can move beyond their disparities and see the potential this brings to the table, life will detonate with conceivable outcomes!

My life in the bush of ghosts

My life in the bush of ghosts Heya! So, from 7:00 PM on 7/11/05 to 7:30 PM on 8/8/05, a total of four weeks, I was a card-carrying vegetarian. Why? So Id have something to write about on my blog someday. Kind of. Over the past year, Ive been trying to give up certain things and routines I take for granted so Im not so reliant on them. I gave up shaving for IAP and now I can go about two weeks before I start to feel shaggy. I stopped showering for 8 days during finals week last term and now Im down to an average of three days a week. I say its for water conservation, but its totally laziness. So, since I used to rely a lot on eating meat with pretty much every meal (plain spaghetti and sauce just never felt right), I thought itd be interesting to give it up for a month and see if my life could seem complete and fulfilled without it. My secondary motivation was to learn how to cook better with vegetables and tofuI cook for myself a lot during the school year, but it usually just involves cutting up a chicken breast, tossing it into a skillet to brown, and throwing in whatever vegtables I happen to have on hand, then heating until its all done. Its usually a balanced meal, but not too imaginative. Well, it was an odd experience. I definitely missed eating meat nonstop for the first week, but after that I didnt have much of a problemId only be struck with a craving when I passed a free barbecue going on somewhere on campus or saw somebody getting a chicken gyro in line ahead of me. Id also get cravings only for the weirdest low-quality meats that I almost never eat, like corn dogs and scrapple. Strangely enough, I did develop a slight revulsion to the foods that I used to consume most frequentlyGoosebearys teriyaki chicken with brown rice (comes with vegetables and cabbage salad; a balanced lunch for $4) and an Annas Taqueria chicken burrito (small, no cheese, black beans, salsa, hot sauce, guacamole, lettuce). Even now, I cant remember why I liked the teriyaki chicken so much. I usually only take lunch break for about half an hour and theres no refrigerator or microwave in my lab, so I tend to get food truck pretty much every day. So, for this month, falafel was my savior. At 77 Massachusetts Avenue, theres a greek/middle eastern truck with a really friendly large lady, and you can get a falafel/baklava/soda combo for only $4. Plus, if you buy 7 sandwiches, you get the 8th free! Its such a good deal! I dont know how they make money. I never ate there until they started this promotion, but since then Ive filled up three cards. You can tell Im not an econ major. Goosebearys, a South Asian food truck outside of building 68 (the biology building) also had some pretty good cheap and balanced vegetarian lunch options. Lunch from Goosebearys pretty much consists of three scoops of rice, two scoops of hot entree, and one scoop of really cold steamed vegetables. Theyve got three average tofu entrees in their daily, and about once a week they served a great peanut tofu dish that was really the only reason I went. However, the line was so long that I could never tell if they had peanut tofu, so I relied So, that was my lunch for a month. I used to get Annas sometimes, but their vegetarian burrito isnt recommendablethough the seasoning is nice and they use a wide variety of vegetables, the turnaround on the steamed vegetables is so low that they almost always go into the burrito at room temperature, and Annas burritos, unlike revenge, are not a dish best served cold. I was much, much hungrier as a vegetarian than I am as an omnivore. Earlier in the summer Id do about two meals a day. Last month Id have to do breakfast, lunch, pre-running snack, sensible dinner, and late night snack with hot tea or else my stomach would start to devour itself. So, with quick snacks. Luckily, one happy week Star Market had mangoes on sale for 50 cents each (67 percent off), so I bought 8 and that solved my breakfast and snack problems for the better part of two weeks. Still, I dont think this is something that I could keep up during term just because my options eating on campus during the summer seemed to be so limitedmaybe if I had gone longer, I could have enjoyed salads or veggie burritos for lunch. Still, I kept sane mainly by cooking for myself. Heres three recipes that kept me sane for a month without meat. Alton Browns Fillet o Fu Alton Brown is totally my TV boyfriend and he has a pretty good, very general tofu recipe, if you take the time to squeeze all the water out as he suggests in it. While the tofu fillets had a pretty nice texture, I preferred to cut up the tofu after marinating, coat it with egg, and then stir-fry it with some sauce and vegetables. The egg just gives the outside such a crispy, contrasting texture that I really enjoyed cooking tofu for the first time in a long while. Have you seen Good Eats? Such a great show, especially for MIT students. Oh, wait, we dont get Food Network. Thanks, MIT Cable. Rachael Rays Salsa Stoup Rachael Ray is not a watchable television personality. Shes on the Food Network about 40 times a week, flailing her way around America on a budget of $40 a day or careening through her patented 30-minute meals in real-time, always using plenty of EVOO and nicesmokycumin along the way. On the episode that she prepared this, she made sure to breathlessly explain that stoup is thicker than a soup, thinner than a stew seven times, in case you just tuned in. Anyway, I made a pot of this one week and got five pretty substantial meals out of it. I didnt make the accompanying quesadillas becuase it wasnt a baking kind of summer, so I filled out the soup with a can of black beans, some fresh corn taken off the cob, and some chopped-up fresh mango. With that, it went great with garlic toast or anything else I had around, and her fresh guacamole (or avocado smash) convinced me never to go back to the prepared stuff. Giada de Laurentiiss Gnocchi I love gnocchi, and this recipe takes about 40 minutes from start to finish. I never thought of microwaving the potatoes before. Her butter-thyme sauce was pretty good, but I ended up adding a lot of different thingssometimes tomato sauce, sometimes broccoli and zucchini, sometimes just some olive oil and cheese. Its somehow more satisfying than just spaghetti and sauce, and the gnocchi keep really well in the fridge. If you make her recipe, though, I think you need to add a little more flour than she suggests to keep the gnocchi together. TRIVIA: Giada is the beautiful, yet large-headed daughter of famous producer Dino de Laurentiis. Other Stuff I Made A Lot I made a spinach salad with pears, walnuts, and balsamic vinegar. I think spinach is really bitter, but the walnuts really helped mask the bitterness, and I liked the balsamic on the pears. A little feta might have made this even better, but Im a college student. I made a zucchini frittata that turned out pretty well. Just chop or shred a zucchini, fry it with some scallions/onions/garlic/whatever until most of the moisture gets out, then scramble two eggs and add those to the pan, flip it, and serve it with toast. I also overcame my fear of Special K. Special K is by far my favorite cereal. For those of you who have seen how I eat Life, my passion for Life doesnt even come close to that for Special K. However, Im afraid to buy it because I know its target audience is dieting and menopausal womenhonestly, for me its the same as walking into a supermarket and buying a box of Secret antiperspirant. Special K is delicious enough for a man, but clearly made for a woman. Seriously! Just look at the Special K website as compared to, say, Corn Flakes. Crispix: Join the party! Special K: Lose those thighs, sister! Well, this month, since I was a vegetarian, I had no food shame, so I bought three boxes. Yeah, that lasted like two weeks. I dont know if I can go cold turkey. And, also thanks to Alton, Ive discovered a new dessertbread with sour cream and honey. The Summation In retrospect, I dont know what the purpose of this entry is, but I suffered without meat for a month, and now youve suffered reading about it. It took me fourteen years to write it, and so should it take you fourteen years to read it. James Joyce, on Finnegans Wake

Discuss the Relationship Between Lincolns Goals of...

DBQ Civil War Essay In the time period of 1862 to 1865, when Lincoln takes office in March 4th to his assassination, the United States was dealing with the issues of preserving the Union. In determining whether Lincoln’s goals to preserve the Union by freeing the slaves, one must assess the knowledge of their relationship. Politically, President Lincoln tried to convince the political groups that abolishing slavery would help preserve the Union; intellectually, he gave the idea of ending slavery to the citizens through speeches; and socially, after Lincoln freed the slaves, they were pursued to join the war for the Union’s cause. In order for Lincoln to save the Union, he would find it inevitable to end the slavery issue.†¦show more content†¦In Document B, Lincoln gives his speech to a religious group in Chicago, before the Emancipation Proclamation was put into effect. There he was selling the idea that the blacks should be freed, but making sure that his audience knew what precautions he wanted to avoid (e.g., arming the blacks, which could lead to the hands of the rebels stated in Document B). In another speech, in Document E, Lincoln is reciting a speech to the Democratic Party, his opposing party; which shows that he was talking to all groups, not just his own. He tells the Democrats, that they cannot avoid slavery if they want to preserve the Union. He stated in Document E, â€Å"I issued the proclamation on purpose to aid you in saving the Union.† Lincoln explains that the Emancipation Proclamation was put into order to help the Democrats save the Union. However, this is not really one of Lincoln’s reasons for the proclamation. He is basically just having the Democrats agree on his new order in order to help/ join the war. Lincoln uses his mind tricks to make the Democratic Party feel guilty for not aiding/fighting to free the â€Å"negroes,† quoted in Document E; which at this time in August 26, 1863, the South is win ning the war. Because the South is winning the war, the Emancipation Proclamation was made to mislead/ trick Europe into entering the war. Lincoln is using his experience of being a lawyer to

A Letter to My Friend Essay Example For Students

A Letter to My Friend Essay Dear Audrey, I believe that the day I met you was one of destiny. Id never believed in destiny because my life was difficult and I was lonely; I couldnt accept that as the ultimate purpose of my life. I remember that afternoon I sat alone on a bench park, recently dumped by the one Id believed was my best friend. She left me the way the previous ones have done it, by throwing me away after giving those shiny underestimating glimpse. I have had enough of that, and had lost hope on everything, until the hand of a beautiful woman, who seemed like she was reaching forty years old soon, touched me and looked at me carefully while saying, Perfect!  . No one ever said that about me, not even once. So, needlessly saying, I was absolutely touched. The smiling-face lady held me tight in her hand. I could see that she wanted to bring me somewhere. She walked me through the sidewalk, then we crossed a big junction, and after walking some more miles, we entered an alley and stopped our journey in front of a not-big-but-not-so-small house. The house from the front was very lovely, with its big garden surrounded the building that mostly white. I was excited to know more about the house, just like the lady that was more excited to show me to someone younger than her by (perhaps) twenty five years old that she addressed with Audrey, darling. This Audrey, darling came out from the front door and ran to the lady, that turned out to be her mother. Audrey, darling whose real name was Audrey, was a short curvy girl with long wavy blond hair and turquoise eyes. She smiled brightly when seeing her mother coming; especially when she knew that her mother brought me along with her. I could see happiness all over her face. But somehow, I saw something different. Something weird in those shiny eyes, something fake in her wide smile. It was cleverly covered, but it was still obvious. It was a feeling that I knew well. Loneliness. From the very first time I met Audrey, I knew that we would be best friends. We were lonely and we needed each other to share. We had something in common. She told me everything that she knew. She always came to me whenever she came back from school to tell all the things that happened to her that day. She often told me some funny jokes from television, and I thought she was a fun girl. The thing that I loved most was when Audrey said that I was her only best friend. This was my first time being very important to someone. And I, as a best friend, would always be there, the place where Audrey wanted me to, faithfully waited for her and her stories. Days went by with the inseparable friendship between Audrey and I. But then, Audrey stopped talking to me. I did not know why she did, but something that I realized was that she had done many changes. She began to wear headbands, she paid attention to her clothing, she made sure to always spray perfume all over her body, and she always looked at the mirror before going out from her room. I was quite sad that Audrey did not tell me anything about her changes. I felt so betrayed. But one day, she finally talked to me. Dear Diary, There is a new student in my class, his name is Ron. He is from London. He is a pure British with his sturdy appearance like all the British guys. He chose to sit beside me even when there were many empty chairs. I do not want to expect much, but I am glad he did it. We talked and talked about anything. The more we talk, the more I realize that he is a smart guy and I love the way he talks with his unique accent that I could not have enough for hearing his voice. He is really charming, and he has a warm heart, I guess. Do you think that I am in love? I do not know about that. But for now, I think he is a very good friend. Sorry but I cannot share much to you, because I have much things to do. .u0ef0bcaf65a1e870bd8d505b6fa8a61f , .u0ef0bcaf65a1e870bd8d505b6fa8a61f .postImageUrl , .u0ef0bcaf65a1e870bd8d505b6fa8a61f .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u0ef0bcaf65a1e870bd8d505b6fa8a61f , .u0ef0bcaf65a1e870bd8d505b6fa8a61f:hover , .u0ef0bcaf65a1e870bd8d505b6fa8a61f:visited , .u0ef0bcaf65a1e870bd8d505b6fa8a61f:active { border:0!important; } .u0ef0bcaf65a1e870bd8d505b6fa8a61f .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u0ef0bcaf65a1e870bd8d505b6fa8a61f { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u0ef0bcaf65a1e870bd8d505b6fa8a61f:active , .u0ef0bcaf65a1e870bd8d505b6fa8a61f:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u0ef0bcaf65a1e870bd8d505b6fa8a61f .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u0ef0bcaf65a1e870bd8d505b6fa8a61f .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u0ef0bcaf65a1e870bd8d505b6fa8a61f .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u0ef0bcaf65a1e870bd8d505b6fa8a61f .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u0ef0bcaf65a1e870bd8d505b6fa8a61f:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u0ef0bcaf65a1e870bd8d505b6fa8a61f .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u0ef0bcaf65a1e870bd8d505b6fa8a61f .u0ef0bcaf65a1e870bd8d505b6fa8a61f-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u0ef0bcaf65a1e870bd8d505b6fa8a61f:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Stalinism and Stalin's Ideology EssayBut I promise to talk to you in a while. I was a little bit disappointed to hear that from Audrey. But I realized, there were so many things that Ron could do, but I could not. Audrey and Roy could talk about anything, while I was only listening to what Audrey saying without giving response. I was only an old useless diary for her. In this case, I had to remember about one important thing in friendship; you could not force your best friend to be what you wanted, because a best friend would feel happy for her/ his best friends happiness. And I was happy for her.

Sea Wolf Essays - Gray Wolf, Scavengers, Comanche People

Sea Wolf Wolf Larsen was a character in the book who never made it all the way through the book, but he tried very hard. He was a very strong, brutal man with almost no respect for human life. With all the people in the world, one dead person meant nothing to him. He was a patient man and usually kept himself under control. He was surprisingly smart and thoughtful for a pirate who lives on the sea. He loved the sea and knew many things about it, such as how to outwit his brother when he came near Wolf's boat. Humphrey Van Weydon, or Hump as he was called on the boat, was a landlubber. He had a very comfortable job, and very soft skin showing how soft his life had been. He had barely any muscles and lived a very pampered living. He was a gentleman and very proper. Being proper, he was very intelligent and had a very extensive vocabulary. He seemed very surprised when he realized Wolf and he both shared some vocabulary words and meanings. Hump wasn't used to living on a boat, but he soon learned to live on one. He became accepted on the boat with the crew. Wolf and Hump were very different people with few similarities. Wolf was very strong and bullied everyone around. He believed everyone was insignificant, while Hump was nice, proper and believed everyone was unique and we all should live and that one person can make a big difference and change in the world. Wolf also tried to turn Hump into a strong man, since Hump was a wimp in everyone's eye on the boat. Wolf had one disadvantage though, during his voyages, he read many books, but was never able to say what he read or really talk about anything he read. When Hump came along, they shared and exchanged knowledge and each learned new things about the books they read. One scene that stands out the most from the book was when Wolf Larsen was engaged in a battle with his brother. Wolf played Hide-N- Seek with his brother behind fog on the seas for a long time. During this fight, Hump and Maud Brewster, a girl whom Hump was in love with and was trapped on the boat too, got on a small boat and sailed to safety away from Wolf's boat to freedom. Only later after Hump saw Wolf's boat stranded on the island where Hump and Maud were living did he hear from Wolf that his brother came on board during the night and offered everyone a chance to get away and paid them to go on his boat. Wolf's boat didn't have any crew left after everyone left. Sea Wolf and Dove surprisingly had many similarities between them. Sea Wolf was a story was told on the sea and in first person just as Dove had been done. In the sea, Hump worked under Wolf Larsen as a crewman while Robin worked under the stress of finishing the journey around the world. In both books the main character found true love. Hump found and fell in love with Maud while Robin fell in love with Patti. Finally, both stories ended with the problems solved, Wolf Larsen died leaving Hump free from stress of him killing him, and robin finished the journey to have a family and spend the rest of his time with his wife Patti.

buy custom Low-Performing in Schools essay

buy custom Low-Performing in Schools essay Williams, a former middle school teacher, was tasked with finding out what the problem was with the low-performing in schools. She was to come up with a turnaround that could be followed to change the performance of students for better. When she visited the Keswick Elementary School, the first thing she wanted to look was the type of students being taught in that school. She, therefore, assessed the students and found out that most of them were a mixture of the whites and African Americans and also the disabled students. This could not be a problem to the performance of school. She then headed to the faculty members to check if they had any problems. She, therefore, looked at the approach that the faculty members were using. She realized that the faculty members used the Montessori-based reading approach. As she assessed teachers, she also realized that there were some issues which had not been taken in carefully with teachers. She realized that teachers did not have a regular assess ment of students and, therefore, they did not have the information regarding students and how they were assimilating the information being taught. In my view, the performance of students takes a wholesome approach. The faculty members need to assess students and know how they perform in the areas that they have been taught. From the assessment, Williams realized that teachers were not aware of the use of some formative tests that could be used to know how students are performing. Another interesting thing is that teachers were not aware of the performance of various students present at the class. An example is that of the performance of various races in the class. On the reasons why students with disabilities failed, William assessed and realized that students in these classes were at special classes all days without a chance to interact with the students at regular classes. This, Williams concluded, affected the way students with disabilities were learning. There is a need to have the sessions of students with disabilities with normal classes. There are some causal theories that are talked of that contribute to the reasons that cause the low performance of most schools. Many theories have pinpointed the various issues dealing with students and their performance. Poverty is an issue that many people advocating for the change and turnaround at poor schools that have less to do with. In as much as the leaders advise the people on the effects of poverty and the causes of poverty, they have nothing else to do. Poverty is hard to eradicate unless politically. In my view, I feel that the turnaround effort that should be taken for the poor performing students should take a wholesome approach. This is to say that all teachers, parents, and students, each of them has a part to play. I, therefore, feel that teachers should be taught to learn from those teachers at the high-performing schools. There are some practices that are not followed at poor performing schools. These should be ironed out so that the studnts will get an equal treatment. Parents should also take part in encouraging their children to study hard because without any self-drive, it is hard to attain goals that one wants. The need for leadership in the change process cannot be overstated. A lot of reforms have failed due to the lack of some quality leadership. It is not, however, usual for a teacher to return from the conference happy about a new technique, idea, or the way to curriculum only to have a principal criticizing him or her. From the same, it is usual for the principal to attempt beginning a change, only to have community members effectively stifling it. It is crucial to note that school leadership is gained at multiple places throughout a school; the head or the principal is only a single avenue of school leadership within a school. In fact, a respected partner who returns the reform initiative can act to keep teachers encouraged and eager on the change. Principals are critical to the change process, but teacher leaders are not less important (Daniel, 2009). The particular elementary school visited included five unique principals in six respective years. The faculty viewed leadership in th ose years as tenuous. The faculty believed the attitude that any change or new policy proposed by office would not last. Once the principal departed or the change had lost its power, the faculty could resume doing things normally. It was the unconductive environment to change. It is a fact that leadership is a key for reform to go through. However, there is a risk in charismatic leadership. An inspiring leader can make that individual dependent, and the program will bring no success without him or her. Competence should be instilled in the faculty if resilient reforms are to be achieved. I believe that leadership affects and brings changes to every sector of the school leadership. Many schools have failed because they do not have any proper leadership. The leaders that these schools include do not have the required vision and the strategies to have successful programmes at these schools. There is the feeling that the government should come in and provide support first to the leaders. Creating new schools come with many challenges; firstly, you have to integrate the staff originated from various schools. There is also the need to merge teachers with different environmental backgrounds, knowledge, and experiences for a team, working for the improvement of the fifth- or sixth-grade student. Another challenge is creating a collaboration culture. Teachers are ought to make at least one visit to one other classroom monthly; they move among grade levels, or the levels from the middle school or selective. The message in these practices is to collaboratively perform the tasks in order to get away with barriers and not stay in the locked classrooms. The third challenge is implementing the consistent policies and protocols that conform to the needs of the staff and students, and it has been harder to meet. Consistency is tricky when different people from diverse backgrounds merge together, each beliieving that their way is the best one (Daniel, 2009). I feel that there should be a department in the government that deals with the creation and nurturing of new schools. They will help catching up with new skills with the rest of schools. They will help to implement the required standards. This will eradicate the fact that when new schools are created, the government is only concerned with the requirements required for the one to start a new school. Several common factors inhibit the school leaders success. These include strict regulations and personnel rules; schools in which leaders tend not to interfere with hiring and firing of staff are considered to be most effective. If principals are given little or no control over persons teaching at their schools, they are very likely to be saddled with some of teachers, maybe, even many teachers regarded as unfit. Monopoly is also an inhibiting factor to leadership; leaders that make schools having the ultimate control over its students, lack the incentive to release some successful students. Most leaders also centralize some key decision making processes which disjoint the policies of school with teachers and students they supposedly exist to protect. Some leaders lack the focus. They do not expect their students to meet high levels and, hence, the education process takes precedence over the policy making and the results analysis. I feel that all teachers should have some seminars, at least, twice a year, where the policies and regulations would be read to them. When creating new policies, teachers should be involved in the process. Persons under some leadership responsibilities at schools ought to view the problems from a wider perspective and explore all the possible approaches for problems solution. It does not harm if one deviated from the normal or rather usual approaches would try a new approach. The frameworks laid down to prepare school heads have some weaknesses which are now being addressed by the programs that have improved on the data based decision making and in the structural leadership. Few programs do acknowledge the fact that some programs do not provide the sufficient preparation for leaders in all circumstances and schools; no programs have, however, majored on the school leadership. The developments have been made in some states; an example is an introduction of extra learning, which is a clear indication that leadership is a process and that the pre-service course work is not sufficient to keep one leader. Principals should be subjected to the environments with different challenges to give t hem; that exposures to problem solving skills all this challenges that should be incorporated in the school heads coursework. I feel that problems should be solved in a wider approach and perspective. Teachers should be involved in solving problems that affect the students, and which also come as a result of parents. This way, there will be a wider perspective and a wider view of solving these problems. Buy custom Low-Performing in Schools essay

Assess the difficulties confronting Americas response to the attacks Essay

Assess the difficulties confronting Americas response to the attacks of 11th September 2001 - Essay Example To safeguard people’s interests, new strategies and plans were required to be developed and enforced. Laws needed to be framed to make Americans feel safe emotionally, physically and politically. Therefore, the US Patriotic Act was amended and renamed ‘USA Patriot and Terrorism Prevention Reauthorization Act’. It was made more stringent and extra statutes included with wide ranging terrorists relating offences like deliberate and destructive activity against the state or its people resulting in loss of life or property, money laundering, surveillance and detention of people under suspect of terrorist activities etc. with capital punishment introduced. While such stringent measures are incorporated in the constitution, implementation is increasingly becoming tougher because of the multicultural fabric of the society in America. It is very important to understand the motivations behind the terrorism when engaged in counterterrorism efforts, mainly because today the terrorism has become high tech and spread globally, infiltrating the society to the extent that if not handled with cautious and premeditated techniques and strategies, involving the in-depth analysis of the socio-psychological background of the terrorist, it would be extremely difficult to take effective steps to countermand their intended actions, targeting the innocents and holding them to ransom. The general motives of the terrorists in this country and abroad involve coercive tactics and unlawful intimidation of the government bodies to force the government to accede to their vested interest regarding political, ideological or religious demands. Terrorists are people or individuals who commit intended violence against the innocents with the sole intention of harming the public and destroying the property in order to make them meet their vested political goals and religious fanatics’ demands. â€Å"For our terrorist enemies,

Evolutions in China Film Industry Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2250 words

Evolutions in China Film Industry - Essay Example The film industry is a dynamic sector, compelling various film industries in different countries to adopt the most recent technologies to remain relevant as far as audience satisfactions are concerned (Blythe, 2008). The main objective and criteria in the advancements of movie technologies is to improve the quality and the ability of the audience to enjoy such films, either at the cinema among other media. This discourse is about the changes or improvements in the China’s film industry, as a result of advancements of technology in the last two decades. It involves the comparisons of some selected movies produced in the last two decades and those produced as recently as this year. China mainly ventures in three categories of movies namely commercial films, propaganda films as well as art films. The three categories undergo common film production procedures but differ in the main themes behind them. Commercial movies are meant to promote regional and international businesses and this includes adverts and promotes among others (Hetzel, 2008). Propaganda movies are those employing more fictions in other words, thoughts and actions beyond human capacity. This category is the most selling. It may also include animations and sci-fi depending on the technology applied. Art films or movies are those promoting Chinese art and skills like Ti-Chi, Judo and Tae-Kwando among others (Rojas, 2007). The irony is that Chinese art films are more common in the Western world than in the country itself. This could be due to the fact that Chinese do not appreciate their practices or culture while the Western part of the world does (Zhang, 2012). Advancement in movie technologies has seen the overall improvements in film production houses for the last two decades. Some of these technologies and invented in the country while others are adopted from Europe and North America among other parts of the world (Wilkins, 2009). China first employed the VHS tape technology as the main mo vie storage tools. Movies could be recorded in such tapes then distributed for sale. The technology was helpful although it had some limitations. The tapes and tee casings were cumbersome to carry around, more so during distribution. There not long lasting and their quality could be compromised by dust or damp environment. Movies were later recorded on the DVDs which came with several advantages. DVDs are light in weight hence easy to transport, easy to manage and produces quality images compared to those recorded on the tapes. DVD technology still plays a great role in the modern Chinese movie industry. The majority who cannot afford the Cinemas can simply walk to the movie stores located in almost corner of the country and pick the favorite movie in the DVDs (Pogue, 2012). The 2012 Chinese movie industry survey indicates that about 80% of the country’s film revenue was from the local consumption. However, the technology of DVDs came with some limitations, for instance, thei r quality is greatly compromised by electromagnetic waves among other radiations. A single scratch on the DVDs may create its way to the dust bin and only few and expensive DVDs can be re-written among other limitations. Then followed the BluRay technologies, which is far much better than the DVD technology but expensive. The modern generation in China accesses their favorite movies through the digital downloads. The movie industries have collaborated with various cloud companies so that the audience can download their favorite movies anytime and from any corner of the globe at a reasonable

Have human resources functions of the Organization include the recruitment and selection policies, and procedures related to disciplinary procedures, policies, rewards and prizes, and human resources plan and policies specific learning and development. But it should be aliened all these regulatory issues in the overall strategy for the business sector. Human resources management strategy and the comprehensive plan, with regard to human resources policy in the implementation process. Human resources management strategy usually consists of the following factors: Wal-Mart always gives priority to the strategies that best fit and best practices, which means there is a link between human resources management strategy and corporate strategy. Encountered some blam critic Wal-Mart to use this strategy against the employee benefits and fair pay, so many times waltmart cases of discrimination against them. But the people Wal-Marts efficient in the field of continuous monitoring of the human resources strategy, through the study of the employee, feedback and surveys necessary for the organization. 10 Career Education There are a number of Universities and Colleges to study in the areas of human resources management and related benefits. It was the first Cornell University in the world who started their studies in human resources management and educational administration full. Wal-Mart and good training and education system for workers in the teaching profession and communicate with various projects and sectors that handle these projects in their human resources. There are many new careers at wallmart , which engaged things related to recruitment, employment, recruitment and the interviews done in general, equal opportunities in employment or professional employment organization. Training is conducted regularly with the development of specialization by the trainers. 11 case studies: critical analysis of the human resources approach Walmart Wal-Mart, which is famous for retail in the U.S. A and the top retailers in the U.S. market. Wal-Mart is the rapid growth in the awareness that you make. According to the site Wal-Mart (Company, 2010) Wal-Mart serves customers and members in more than 200 million times a week in more than 8747 retail units under the flags of different countries, 5515. With fiscal 2010 sales of 405 billion dollars, 2.1 million Wal-Mart is working partners all over the world. Leader in sustainability, charitable companies and jobs, in first place among retailers, Wal-Mart impressive in Fortune magazine as most companies in the survey for the year 2010. Wal-Mart has the status of these substances can also see that Wal-Mart to buy large quantities of items from its suppliers to create economies of scale, and inventory control with an effective system to assist in making operating costs less than those of its competitors. It is also many goods imported from China, factory of the world for its low cost. In the word of the strategy at the level of the company from Wal-Mart, the low cost strategy with a little insulation. Wal-Mart managers and engage in three levels of strategic planning (Gary Dessler, 2005) in the business, and corporate-level strategic function. As for Wal-Mart, corporate and business level strategy to drive low-cost. From the perspective of performance management, to Wal-Mart has very high standards and strict job titles. In career management, Wal-Mart and also goes great efforts to reduce costs, and there are many cases that women Su, Wal-Mart to its policy of discrimination against women by systematically denying them promotions and paying them less than men. There are women who have been paid to the departments to lower FEMALE complain about unequal treatment of male colleagues. From the perspective of compensation management, has also showed Wal-Mart human resources policies and activities of the very aggressive to fit the low cost strategy. Wal-Mart imported $ 15 billion worth of goods from China, but also Wal-Mart has some of the factories in China, which branded products with the name of Wal-Mart. We can see just how Wal-Marts strategy of companies only extensively with integrated human resources policy. Wal-Mart workers in California to earn 31 percent less on average than workers in large retail as a whole. In fact, with other operating costs that put it on the highest level of inventory management, and managers must turn to the storage fees to increase profits, Wal-Mart is expected to reduce labor costs by two-tenths of a year. So, these aggressive policies of human resources, not just more, the fittest. From the viewpoint of the employee and the interest of safety, as well as human resource policies at Wal-Mart, which aligned well with the strategy at the corporate level. Often accused of Wal-Mart failed to provide employees access to affordable health care, but the senior managers and HR managers know their focus was just trying to implement most of the low cost strategy. Wal-Mart strongly against the policy of the Union. It was reported in the United Kingdoms Guardian newspaper that Wal-Mart faces the prospect of a messy legal battle with the messy GMB bruises in a row about the rights of collective bargaining, to the Union does not accept the Wal-Mart has withdrawn its bid to pay 10% to more than 700 workers. (Milner, 2005) and here there may be some doubt as to why Wal-Mart has recently allowed trade unions in their stores in China, where trade unions are required. I tried Wal-Mart in China every possible effort to develop good relations with the Government of China and other groups of influence. So make this the exception of China and Wal-Mart unionizations except in accordance with the overall strategy and human resources strategy. If the company has ignored the rule of the Chinese government, the cost is more than just what would be saved by not allowing the Organization of Trade Unions. We may evaluate the various human resources practices and systems, Wal-Mart best fit the organizations strategy for competitive companies. Then here is the role of HR managers in this company who are professionals with strategic skills of human resources and other resources needed to build a human-oriented strategy. Human resource managers in one of the technical departments of Wal-Mart, and tried their best to fit the companys strategy to reduce the cost low. They made some rules and policies, for example, the implementation of the policy against the Union in its stores to reduce costs from outside the EU, but to assist in the implementation of the lock in policies; tried to resist the deficit in the loss of efficiency. Should encourage women to discrimination by giving them a far less chance of money, and workers in fact mentioned in the Wal-Mart has also received a salary much lower compared with the average level of the industry. Try Wal-Mart human resources managers and also to control the conduct of staff and competencies that require the companys strategy through the actions and policies of the companys strategy in support of human resources, some of which may be adduced. Wal-Mart human resources managers refers to its employees as partners and encourages managers to think of themselves as servant leaders, and this is to encourage them to serve others while staying focused on achieving results in line with the organizations values and integrity. Wal-Mart also faces lawsuits alleging that the companys discrimination against disabled workers, to employ these men intended to provide more facilities for them and lost efficiency to some extent. They also faced charges of child labor. Also charges of discrimination of women. All of these types of human resources policies are not enough compared to international best practices approved by the Department of Human Resources in all good companies. Regardless of Wal-Mart to adopt low-cost strategy or differentiation strategy, and these policies and practices to achieve specific objectives to save any additional cost, but to motivate employees to increase their contribution in helping companies and even in shapin g culture. 12 Conclusion and proposals With the update that brought the introduction of computers and mobile phones, information and technological advances robots to support human life and the work it is easy to be good performance in any business.

ADR will only be successful if both parties involved are in agreement with the outcome this of course can become increasingly difficult if the parties refuse to speak to each other, In these cases litigation may be the only viable solution, however ADR is ideal where it is important that each party maintains an unblemished relationship with the other party involved this is especially important within the business community. Arbitration is one of the oldest forms of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) it is governed by the 1996 Arbitration Act (AA) and is part of the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (ACAS). The Act states in Section One that the object of Arbitration is â€Å"to obtain the fair resolution of disputes by an impartial tribunal without necessary delay or expense† (Slapper and Kelly, 2003) Arbitration can only transpire if both parties involved agree to it, it is the only form of ADR t... ...ional decision without the situation getting out of hand. Each party will in turn be able to state what they feel is the nature of the dispute before negotiating a suitable outcome. Negotiation is slightly different to Conciliation and Mediation as the person negotiating acts on ‘your’ behalf and represents and looks after ‘your’ interests, a successful negotiator will be able to reach a conclusion where they are able to achieve most of their parties wishes but without causing the other party to feel they have lost and therefore detach themselves from the rest of the negotiation process and then choose to pursue a litigation option. Conciliation can be seen as a form of Mediation in fact some people say that the only difference between them is that Conciliators have more power than Mediators as they can â€Å"suggest grounds for compromise and the possible basis for a conclusive agreement† (Slapper and Kelly, 2001). Conciliation like Arbitration is part of ACAS and like Mediation tries to allow parties to decide an outcome between them that suits them both, however it does not always guarantee that a dispute will be settled and will not proceed to litigation anyway.

Hamlet, By William Shakespeare - 2386 Words

Throughout William Shakespeare’s play, women are usually illustrated as strong, independent, confident, and self-serving individuals. Previously scene from King Lear with both Regan and Goneril and in Macbeth with Lady Macbeth, these characters show the true strength of a woman. However, in William Shakespeare’s play Hamlet, the woman are seen as weak. Being the only female characters in the play, Ophelia and Gertrude allow us to observe the role of women in Hamlet. The men surrounding them continuously control both Ophelia and Gertrude, as they agree to be pawns in several plans for the men that are in their lives. Both women eventually choose another man over Hamlet , while playing a big role in his life, they betray him. The betrayal†¦show more content†¦Yet each of these questions were failed to be answered; the audience can only choose to believe what s/he thinks is correct. Gertrude is one of the only characters who gives us a sense of mystery and doubt for the audience. Like Gertrude, Ophelia is another undeveloped woman in the play. Ophelia is a young, beautiful and innocent woman, who obeys her family. Other than the joy she offers toward he family and Hamlet, she is an insignificant character. Ophelia is seen to be incapable of making decision without the influence of the people surrounding her. Similar to Gertrude, the audience experiences many unanswered questions about Ophelia. Have she and Hamlet engaged in sexual relations? Did she remain loyal to her father who prohibited her from seeing Hamlet, disregarding his disapproval? Both Ophelia and Gertrude remain undeveloped character , however they are greatly significant to the men in accomplishing their goals. Both Gertrude and Ophelia are greatly used by the men in Hamlet as tools to help accomplish their goals. Being used as tools resembles both girls as being easily manipulated and easily controlled by the men. This is an unusual sighting in Shakespeare plays, since we usually see them as strong and influential. In the play Macbeth we see, Lady Macbeth controls Macbeth throughout the play, portraying herself as a strong and dominate character. Lady Macbeth is a complete opposite of Gertrude and Ophelia.
